The Delicate Arch

So this morning I woke up to find that my foot still hurt and walking to the bathroom was very painful. We got ready for church and headed to the local ward. During sacrament meeting my foot started to hurt A LOT. So Angela Brooks (there were two Angelas) went with me to the urgent care. They x rayed my foot and told me I'd torn several ligaments in my foot. He told me that wearing a shoe would help a lot and thats why it was hurting so much. So the shoe went on and stayed on the rest of the day. It did feel better.

After church we had yummy dinner, bbq hamburgers and yummy fries and some dutch oven cobbler for dessert. We took a sunset hike to the Delicate Arch. This is the most famous arch and you've probably seen it in ads, on movies, and on the Utah license plate.

We took the long hike up the big slab. It seems like you walk up the biggest rock in the world and and then around a corner and all at once you're there. As we walked I was getting nervous that there wouldn't be any sun on the arch at sunset due to the clouds in the western sky.

Funny story - On Saturday morning, while hiking to the different arches we became intrigued with the trail markers. They are little piles of rocks called cairns. Desiree thought the name was funny so everytime we'd see one we'd try to be the first to call out "Cairn". Well the cairns were everywhere on this hike, so we had fun with them.

Angela and I kissing over the cairn!

This was the last bit of the trail. I loved how it was on the rock. Up around that corner and to the right is the Delicate Arch.

We arrived at the arch and were surprised by how many people were there already. Lots of photographers waiting to catch that one moment of the day when the sun makes the arch just glow. It was a nice time be together and a great way to end our Sunday, watching the sun spotlight one of God's beautiful creations.

Waiting for the "show" to begin!

With the arch at sunset and heading home!
