So on February 21st, our little Connor Bear turned 2. Two! Wow - now THAT is an important age. Where all of a sudden, you realize your "baby" is not really a baby anymore. Take a look at this face:
Two words: Heart breaker!
As you can see, this is a little boy - and a fun one at that!
Boyce and I were super excited to celebrate the life of this little guy. Among so many other things, Connor is:
A mega-snuggler and asks for "hugs" often (especially if he wants to be held).
A daddy's boy through and through. When Daddy's around, it's him he prefers.
Has a great ear for music. Connor picks up tunes really easily. Some of the songs he's mimicked include "Gesu Bambino," "Twinkle Twinkle," "ABCs," "Silent Night" (which he calls "Holy Night), and I'm sure several others I'm forgetting. He also LOVES to sit at the piano and play, and insists on having the hymn book in front of him. I can't wait to see if his love for music continues.
Gracie's best buddy. Seriously, those two love each other so much. Connor refers to her as "She-she." With each passing day, they play better and better. She's so proud to be his big sister, and he just adores her.
Super into planes, trains, garbage trucks, and emergency vehicles. Which is a good thing, because he got a lot of those things for his birthday! He began noticing the sound of planes in the sky probably at about 9 months old. And now when he sees railroad tracks, he'll say, "Chugga-chugga-choo-choo!"
Pretty addicted to what he refers to as his "Bee-yas," which are two raggedy little toys he HAS to sleep with. It's like a crisis if one or both can't be found at bedtime. One is a little leopard print blanket and the other is a tiny teddy bear. Both have to be washed weekly to avoid being ghastly disgusting.
Loves to help Boyce and I cook. So much so I have to keep a doorknob protector on the pantry door because otherwise the little man will grab a measuring cup or spoon and get into the flour or sugar.
Speaking of cooking, Connor is sort of a picky eater. He's gotten better, but the ONLY fruit he'll eat are bananas (I often make smoothies, which thankfully he loves). He has serious texture issues with fruit and sticky things (he won't even eat pancakes unless he has his fork).
Our dear friend Cami came over to help celebrate Connor's birthday with us. We had pizza for lunch (typical for birthday celebrations) and then had cake and ice cream. You can probably tell from the video below but Connor LOVED being sang happy birthday to. I think that's when it clicked for him that it was his special day!
Eating his pizza. Oh wait. He didn't really eat it. :
Eyeing his birthday cake, which he kept exlaiming, "Bir-day CAKE!"
Let's get a closer look at this bad boy. :)
Love this shot of Cami and Grace!
Isn't Boyce cute?! Love his "gut laugh!"
Did I mention he's also a goofball?!
Just had to have some proof that yes, I, Mom, was there!
After the cake, we of course did the presents. Grace was very excited to be Connor's "helper." :)
Quite a serious face for present-unwrapping.
Cute garbage truck from Grandpa Doug and Grandma Rinez!
Yup, we can cross "emergency vehicle" off the list.
Two-year-old life would not be complete without a lawnmower.
After the present unwrapping, we went upstairs where we did the "big present" reveal - a train set.
Working together to put that train set together.
Oh happy birthday our sweet Connor. Truly, you make our lives sweeter and more joyful every single day.
