We got on the bus and drove to Gettysburg, PA. When we arrived we got into groups and reenacted the battle at Gettysburg. It brought it to life for me. To be honest I was a little skeptical but it was great. One of the nice things about this tour is that the directors really try to bring everything to life for us. We have a short lesson before or during each visit so that we can really enjoy each place we visit. We have a book that is full of details and stories so that we can fully understand each visit.
After we reenacted the battle, we went to the visitor's center and then the cemetery. I was little disappointed in the visitors center. Its a little rundown and not very informative. As we were leaving the visitor's center, two familiar faces were walking towards me. It didn't really register at first because I just categorized them in my mind as tour goers. Then it registered that it was my cousin Denton with his brother in law Niel. Not far behind was Uncle Tim and my other cousin Seth. We chatted a bit and then I had to go because my bus was leaving. Pretty soon I hear my name and Aunt Gaylawn is running towards me. She had been in the bathroom. Uncle Tim is from Pennsylvania so they were taking a tour of sites in the east as well. How fun to run into them randomly.

Then we headed to Little Round Top where much of the battle was fought. This area is so beautiful and the fields are covered with statues and monuments representing different parts of the war. Here we had quiet reflection and study time regarding war which was a beautiful setting for it. Being here made me very sad. The whole idea of the civil war having to even take place made me conflicted. I almost had an eery feeling while there. I'm glad they fought the war and accomplished the beginning of basic human rights for all mankind but there was just so much bloodshed and it was amazing to me how it could be felt there.
We had a buffet lunch in Gettysburg then went on to Hershey, PA to see Hershey's Chocolate World. It was very fun. We took a fun little tour that resembled "Small World" at Disneyland with singing cows. Then I got a chocolate peanut butter shake that was just a little piece of heaven. Its honestly the best shake I've ever had. Each sip was almost too rich to continue...somehow I managed to finish it!
From here we continued on to Philadelphia where we ate yummy Philly Cheese Steaks and then to our hotel. First we made a stop at the museum steps and we all did a "Rocky" style run to the top of the stairs. When we got to the hotel it was still VERY hot and humid but I was feeling sluggish so decided a run was in order. Angela, Lara, Erica and I went running...it was about 9 or 10 at night and still 90 degrees with high humidity. Needless to say I was drenched by the time we finished. It took forever to cool off from that. I hope the heat and humidity pass soon. Its not fun.

I can't believe you ran into the Starnes! I knew they were going to be doing similar things to you, but never imagined you'd bump into each other. That's so cool!
