So I usually just go home for Christmas and spend the whole time at home relaxing, catching up on sleep and enjoying some good family time. This year wasn't going to be any different. I got a new roommate named Karl who just happens to work for Jetblue airways. Well he gets to fly for free everywhere but he also gets buddy passes which means he gets to give them to his buddys so they can fly for a small fee. The catch is you have to fly standby which means you only get on the flight if there are empty seats.
Well my friend and new roommate Ryan jumped on the whole buddy pass idea and thought it would be fun to fly to somewhere fun for the new year. So we saw that Jetblue flies to Puerto Rico and decided that would be perfect! Sunny skies and no passport needed.
We looked at flights and saw they were fairly open so we made plans to leave after Christmas and enjoy a few days in the warm Caribbean. We elected to not really make many plans but just play it by ear, camp mostly and just enjoy being outside.
I drove home all day today so that I could get home, pack my stuff and be off to Puerto Rico later tonight. I made a quick stop at the REI in Las Vegas to pick up last minute backpacking supplies because the nearest one to me in Provo is up in Salt Lake.
I got back to Provo, did laundry, tied up some loose ends and drove up to the airport! Off we go!
