So I am on the BYU Mckay School of Education Alumni Committee and I often have meetings on campus. Usually these meetings are after work so parking is not usually an issue. Well the other day we had a half day retreat to really start nailing some things down for homecoming 2008. We met in the new Hinckley Alumni Center and it was from 8 until noon. Well the nearest parking for visitors is by the Museum of Art. If you've been to BYU you know that the visitor lots have a little booth with a student traffic officer there to make sure students nor faculty park there. Its for visitors only. Parking in the visitor lot has always been a pain for me. They always think I'm a student and when I tell them I'm not they think I'm lying and request some sort of proof. Its always made me very angry and I've hated having to deal with it.
Well as I approached the booth today I thought, "Oh dear here we go again". As I pulled up to the booth I slowly rolled down my window anxiously awaiting the confrontation that was about to happen as I tried to convince this young student traffic cop that I am NOT a student. Well as I arrived at the window the young man smiled, handed me a sticker and said, "Have a nice day sir!"
SIR!!!!! Not only does he think I'm too old to be a student but he also thinks I'm old enough to be a sir! HOW RUDE!!!

SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIR. . . i think that is all very funny. . . especially that he called you sir. . .and you called him a "young man" in writing about him. funny.
Hey Sir, don't know why you're surprised--didn't they kick you out of the singles ward? lol Well, welcome to the world of old--we're all there! This story made me laugh SOOO hard, but then I laughed even harder at Andrea's comment about you referring to the guard as a "young man." Boyce, that's something OLD people say. I should know, I say it all the time. lol :)
BOYCE! How rude that YOU have been reading MY blog and not commented earlier! How the heck are you???? I was in Utah in Dec. and tried to find you, but had no luck. Apperently you don't work at Geneva anymore?!?!?! Anyway, next time youre in Mesa we' will have to meet up. (As for the BYU thing, we walked with Jax in the stroller while there, and I was like, oh yeah, I look like I should be here...then I had a reality check, I was wearing sweats and no makeup, pushing a screaming toddler... uh... IM OLD!
(Please excuse grammar and spelling errors... I just don't have the desire to fix them!)
Your reaction reminds me of Gaye Bunting's when she was asked if she wanted the senior citizen discount at the fair! She was most offended! Ha! Most people love it when they're mistaken as a younger person! Your days must be over!
Come on Boyce- you ARE getting old!! :) JK- It is seriously amazing to me that you don't look a day older than the good old Geneva days!!! It was fun to find your blog and get caught up on what you've been doing. So, one of my good friends that's in my ward here in Maryland knows you! Her name is Karen (I don't remember her maiden name) Rich. Check out the Rich Family on my blog. We were talking about you the other day and she was asking me what you were up to. Glad she can now check out your blog to find out!!! YEAH for blogging!!! Talk to you soon!
are you really complaining about this?!?! holy manoly!
Hehe. That's one of the reasons I loved having a beard. They never asked any questions at the parking booth when I went to visit my voice teacher at the HFAC!
