The Wedding Day!!!

The day finally came! Getting married is so interesting...You wait for years and years to find the right person...then you spend months planning and preparing....and then the day arrives....and you wonder if you're ready....even though you've been preparing for it for years!

I picked Suzanne up around 9:00 on Saturday morning. We were both a little dazed but ready for the next step. We arrived a little late to the temple which backed everything up just a bit. I got all ready and was directed to a groom's waiting room. I sat and watched other grooms come and then their brides would come and they would leave. This happened several times until at last my sweet Suzanne came through the door looking radiant and beautiful.

We entered the sealing room and I was immediately overwhelmed by the feeling in the room. Many of our closest friends and family members were there to support us and the feeling just brought me to tears. It was a lovely ceremony and soon we left the temple as husband and wife. Again it was overwhelming to see so many friends and loved ones outside waiting for us. Suzanne's family was all there as well as everyone who had been inside the temple. It was a happy moment.

We took group photos and then went off to the luncheon. The photos took longer than expected due to many other weddings going on.

We FINALLY arrived at the luncheon and got started around 3:00. Only an hour and a half late. Everyone was patient (thank goodness). The ring ceremony was conducted by Suzanne's bishop, Bishop Jensen. I attempted to sing "When you say you love me", a song by Josh Groban. I got a little emotional but I think it turned out ok! Here are the lyrics:

Like the sound of silence calling,
I hear your voice and suddenly
I'm falling, lost in a dream.
Like the echoes of our souls are meeting,
You say those words and my heart stops beating.
I wonder what it means.
What could it be that comes over me?
At times I can't move.
At times I can hardly breathe.

When you say you love me
The world goes still, so still inside and
When you say you love me
For a moment, there's no one else alive

You're the one I've always thought of.
I don't know how, but I feel sheltered in your love.
You're where I belong.
And when you're with me if I close my eyes,
There are times I swear I feel like I can fly
For a moment in time.
Somewhere between the Heavens and Earth ,
And frozen in time, Oh when you say those words.

When you say you love me
The world goes still, so still inside and
When you say you love me
For a moment, there's no one else alive

[bridge:]
And this journey that we're on.
How far we've come and I celebrate every moment.
And when you say you love me,
That's all you have to say.
I'll always feel this way.

When you say you love me
The world goes still, so still inside and
When you say you love me
In that moment,I know why I'm alive

When you say you love me.
When you say you love me.
Do you know how I love you?

Suzanne bore her testimony which was SO very sweet and the Bishop closed with a few remarks about the sealing. We finally got to eat after that. Everyone was so hungry. I remember laughing as I arrived because everyone had eaten their rolls and fruit. Thanks to all the friends and family who waited so patiently AND a very special thanks to Uncle Bob and Aunt Star who catered a wonderful meal and kept it warm and yummy for us!

After our wedding luncheon we were so glad that we didn't have to rush off to a wedding reception. We checked into our very adorable bed and breakfast, Haxton Manor in downtown Salt Lake. At first we couldn't find anyone in the mansion so that we could check in. We sat in the parlor of the mansion and just basked in the wonderful day we'd just enjoyed. There were cookies and treats everywhere which was kind of fun! :) Finally someone arrived to check us in and showed us our room on the top floor. We relaxed for the afternoon then had dinner at Ruth's Diner up Emigration Canyon. We ate outside and had a beautiful evening. It was a little chilly but there were heaters. It was the perfect close to a perfect day!
