My sister Megi wrote this beautiful tribute to Shannon. I know it wasn't easy for her but she did a great job and I wanted to share it with everyone!
Shannon Jacille (Campbell) Royer, 26, returned to our Father in Heaven early Sunday morning, October 5, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Shannon was born on November 12, 1981, in Bakersfield, CA. She graduated from East High at the top of her class in 1999 and thereafter attended Brigham Young University, majoring in Recreation Management. Shannon loved to share herself through music. She was a gifted pianist and she had an angelic singing voice that calmed and uplifted all who heard her. Some of her other hobbies included soccer, scrapbooking, and collecting dolls.
In the summer of 2005, Shannon met and fell head over heels for the man of her dreams, Paul Royer. Paul and Shannon were married for time and all eternity in the Newport Beach Temple on May 19, 2006. Their love was evident by the selfless way they treated each other. Shannon thoroughly enjoyed making her house a home in which all felt welcome and secure. Though she was unable to become a mother, she took a great interest in the lives of her 15 nieces and nephews. Family always came first, and she loved to just be at home, spending time with those closest to her.
Shannon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a deep, abiding testimony of our Savior, and her faith in Him allowed her to endure her trials with grace. She exemplified a love for life as she continually fought to overcome seemingly unbeatable odds. Shannon understood and accepted that death was the pathway to take her home, where she now rests in her Father’s arms. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” (2Tim 4:7).
Shannon is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 2 1/2 years, Paul Royer; parents, Douglas and Rinez Campbell, Bakersfield; three sisters, Janel Campbell, Mesa, AZ; Lindy and Jonathan Woodland, Santa Monica, CA; Megi and Ty Jones, Burley, ID; four brothers, Eric and Kristi Campbell, Thousand Oaks, CA; Jerel and Camille Campbell, Mesa, AZ; Shad and Jodi Campbell, Queen Creek, AZ; Boyce and Suzanne Campbell, Provo, UT; parents-in-law, Scott and LaDawn Royer, Bakersfield; sister-in-law, Megan Royer, Ft. Collins, CO; grandparents-in-law, Naomi Paulsen, Pocatello, ID; Patricia and Leonard Royer, Sun Valley, CA; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Family will be receiving friends on Friday, October 10th, at 9:00 a.m., at The Bakersfield South Stake Center, 2801 South Real Road. Funeral services will be held on Friday, 11:00 a.m., also at Bakersfield South Stake Center. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park (Panama Lane). Flowers can be sent to Alma Funeral Home, 2130 E. California Ave., or donations can be made in memory of Shannon to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (www.cff.org).

Thank you for this- my husband & I knew Shannon (& Paul) while we were in the Singles Branch in Bakersfield. I knew she had passed away but we had moved away in 2007 and lost contact with the Royer family. I'm sorry for your family's loss but wanted to let you know how much we grew to love her and appreciate our time with her. Thank you. ~Margaux
