Redecorating...One Room at a Time

This is Suzanne, and this is my inaugural post. I believe this post is very historic, considering the nation's momentous presidential inauguration happened just yesterday. :) Boyce and I have been having loads of fun turning "our house into a home," if you will. Our first project has been our front room, which really just sported Boyce's futon (that I believe he picked up in the early 90s) and an heirloom chair I was given by my family. So we decided we needed to update our front room.

A few weeks ago we went to my very favorite furniture store (Gardner Village) and found a sectional that we loved. The only sad part about this sectional was its ill-fated price tag of $1,600. But we LOVED the couch. It was deep chocolate brown and rustic looking (but not too rustic like it belonged in a cabin with antlers hanging all over the walls or anything) and microfiber but looked like leather.

We were just about to go buy it when - alas! - we found another couch, the same exact look, but not a sectional, and on clearance for HALF the price. We were ecstatic. That allowed us to purchase the couch as well as a beautiful modern chair and a bench to put underneath our bay window.

This is a view of the front room with the brand-new clearance rustic (but not "antler" rustic) couch and our very Jackie Kennedy-looking chair. Above the couch you can see the mirror Boyce gave me for Christmas (thank you honey again!). Again, another Gardner Village purchase.

Here's a slightly different angle of the room, with the bay window bench (to the left, my heirloom chair, thank you father). We are now moving into our next home project...the bathroom. Wish us luck!

It looks sooooooooo good! Althought I think Mikah and Skyler might complain about the love sac missing from the bay window. Still, it looks awesome. You guys can give me some decor tips when you come visit...good work!
