So a couple of months ago signs like this one started appearing in my neighborhood and all over the Wasatch Front. Each city has its own domain name yet I think they all go to the same place. Well my friend Andrea and I were talking about these signs one day and how obnoxious they are. A few days later my neighbors ( a married couple) told me they had something for me. I thought it was mail. Brian then picks up this sign and shows it to me. I explained it wasn't mine and he proceeded to tell me how he had found the sign in his car the previous night. He didn't seem too excited about it. You see...He and I have the exact same car...silver Camry. Well I was sure my friend Andrea had done it but she assured me she hadn't.
The next morning we had a ward service project. While weeding a flower bed, Jewels (Julia, see camping picture from previous post) asked me if I had found anything in my car. I smirked to myself as I told her that I hadn't but that my neighbor had. Well we had a good laugh and Andrea was glad to know I had found the culprit.
Well this has since turned into a prank war. Julia found the sign in her car and accused me when it was really our friend Jared who we had told about the prank. Then one night after ward prayer I came home to find the sign sitting in my living room, perched on a chair. I immediately took it and taped it to Andrea's patio door. Later that same evening I caught Andrea and Desiree' sneaking into my back patio. We laughed and decided to take it to Jared's house. We hung it from his car port and left. The next morning I awoke to find the sign swinging from the window well grate in my bedroom window. (remember I'm in the basement). Andrea had gone back to Jared's to retrieve the sign so she could hang it in my window.
I then took it to her workplace and taped it to the back window of her car so that she was like a billboard. It was awesome though she didn't seem to appreciate it as much as I.
A few days later I got an envelope in the mail with a picture of the sign inside. It made me chuckle to myself. My favorite part about these pranks is NOT reacting. It drives the girls crazy (especially Andrea) because they really want to know if I got the prank.
On my camping trip this weekend I went to my tent to change clothes once it started getting cooler only to find the sign inside my sleeping bag. Jewels had done it. We all laughed and had to explain the story to everyone present. Later that evening while around the campfire a man none of us knew approached us and said, "Is there a Boyce Campbell here?" Well of course I didn't respond because I had no idea what was going on. He said it again and I finally motioned that it was me. He then gave me the sign. Since I had already seen the sign in my tent Jewels had gone and taken it out and found some random stranger in the campground to come and bring it to me in front of the group.
So I've got a few plans up my sleeve and can't wait to bring them to pass. Its all about timing. For the time being I'm just collecting signs as I see them along the road.
