Umm....Teacher???

I'm done teaching summer school but so glad I got the opportunity to do it. Not only did I tighten up my teaching skills, but it was fun to be with those 6 and 7 year olds and watching them progress. I have so many funny stories but I don't remember them all. Here's one that is memorable adn I don't want to forget.

While I was with a reading group, Brylee approached me and asked if she could go to the bathroom. I consented and off she went. Pretty soon I looked up from my reading group to see Brylee in the doorway. She looked very disturbed and nervous. I motioned for her to come over and she slowly approached me. "Uhh teacher? I was in the girl's bathroom....and umm..." She just sat there until I prompted her again. I thought maybe construction workers may have been in the bathroom working on it or tearing it up. There were several small construction projects going on around the school and I thought maybe they had arrived at the girl's restroom. She finally continued, "Ummm...in the girl's bathroom...in the toilets....ummm..." "yes", I prompted. "Umm....there's pee in all of them" I tried really hard to keep from laughing and in my most serious face told her to please flush them all first and then go to the bathroom herself. She lit up, said OK and skipped happily to the bathroom. Ahhh to have the problems of a 6 year old.
