Change - Ain't it Great?

Well some of you may know that I live in an area with a lot of people just like me. Its been a nice place to live. Most are single working professionals, many with graduate degrees or are working on their graduate degrees. I've been attending church with most of these people in a singles ward (or group) for a couple of years now. Throughout the church, a general policy is that you stop attending a singles ward either when you're married or once you turn 31 years of age. The 31 guideline was not being followed in our area so we had a large group of people in their early 30s.

While on my trip I was made aware that they had decided to begin enforcing the 31 and you're out guideline. This affected many of my friends and will soon be affecting me as I will soon be turning 31.

Its been interesting to watch how different people respond to the change. I feel like in this area we have the best of both worlds because we'll be attending church with families but will also have the benefit of having lots of single friends around. I have decided to start attending the ward now instead of waiting until I'm 31 in November because it will just be easier.

I'm excited to attend a new ward and get to know lots of new people. I know I have lots to offer and am excited to serve and also learn from all of the people in the new ward. PLUS...not a whole lot will change because there will be approx 50 singles in the ward. I worry about some of my friends who are really struggling but I know they'll pull through.

Here's to change!
