We booked a condo and we all met in Moab on Friday night. I cooked dinner. This was interesting because I love to cook but I think I've gotten a bit too fancy for my family. I don't think they knew quite what to think of dinner but they were good sports and ate it anyway. :) We had pasta with pesto and chicken, spinach cranberry salad with this awesome homemade dressing that I love and olive rosemary bread! :) YUM!
It was fun to be together and fun to have my niece Nya and nephew Owen there too. The next morning we got up early and loaded the bus to take us up to the starting point.
It was a little chilly that morning but don't worry...my sister Lindy was ready for the arctic winds because she was very bundled up. We teased her about looking more ready to go skiing then running.
We spent a lot of time waiting for the race to start. When it finally did I ran with Shad for the first mile and then he took off. About halfway through the race I wished I had bought new shoes. My shoes were shot and my feet really started to hurt. Pretty soon my sis in law Jodi caught up to me and we stayed together the rest of the race. It was nice to run with her. Finally we finished and it was awesome to be done.
Then we waited for Mom and Lindy to arrive. I was so proud of them when they came in. My mom has really worked on getting in shape lately and she looks so good. My sister Lindy has Cystic Fibrosis but you would never know it. She doesn't let it slow her down. I was a very proud son/brother as I watched my mom and sis come in to the finish line arm in arm.
