Happy Birthday Shannon

Shannon turned 27 today! I never would of thought when she was born that she would've lived 27 years. Cystic Fibrosis wasn't very well known and it was common for children to die fairly young.

Shannon loved to sing and though she could be very serious, had an extremely silly side. While Shannon was here at BYU going to school we did quite a lot together and we'd drive in the car and sing our hearts out to the radio. The song that's playing on the blog right now, "Mockingbird" by Toby Keith became one of our favorites to sing to. Last year Shannon called me out of the blue and told me she wanted to sing this song at our family reunion that was held June 2008. We practiced separately and even over the phone since she was in California. She was so excited to surprise everyone and just perform a fun, silly song. Due to her health she couldn't make it to the reunion and we couldn't sing together. I still hear her singing it whenever I hear the song and it makes me smile. I love you Shan. Thanks for making me laugh!
