Silver Dollar City

Today was our day to spend at Silver Dollar City, an amusement park in Branson. We woke up and hit the hotel gym before heading over to Silver Dollar City. Now I grew up going to Disneyland and Magic Mountain so I was shocked when we pulled in and the parking was FREE. Then they shuttle you to the front gate.

When we got to the front gate we went to buy our tickets and an elderly couple was standing outside the ticket office. The wife addressed us in her thickest most proper Alabama accent and asked if we were buying tickets. We nodded and she told us that she and her husband had two free tickets that they received with their season passes and they would just go in the trash if we didn't use them. They wouldn't let us pay for them so we thanked them profusely and entered the park. Without even doing one thing I already LOVE Silver Dollar City.

It was the PERFECT day for an amusement park. No crowds, great weather, and the park was so much fun. We enjoyed the sites, went on a few rides and saw a few shows, all with a few of our favorite friends over 70. Seriously...what is it about this place that attracts the older crowd?

Some members of the Red Hat Society waiting for the show to start!!

Everyone is so darn nice here though. I am loving the southern hospitality and just how friendly and laid back everyone is. The park is itself is well kept and pristine. It really is a very nice amusement park...better than this California Amusement Park snob was expecting.

Boyce on the Powder Keg waiting to take off....Suz passed on this one!

We got into the Silver Dollar City spirit by watching them blow glass and by racing our frogs....I think mine won!

We left Silver Dollar City around 6:00 PM just before closing and headed over to Branson Landing for dinner. Branson Landing is this new development on Lake Taneycomo and we were told it was great so we went to check it out. It was a beautiful development in a beautiful setting. We had dinner at Cantina Laredo right on the lakefront and watched a fun fountain show while we ate. It was a great way to end the evening.
